Another comfortable win and clean sheet. I watched the early game and Bournemouth are definitely wobbling.
Davis is simply unplayable, but I have to give a special mention to Joe Colback. Lowe is hardly missed and may not walk back in when he recovers.

A week ago I thought automatic promotion was out of reach but feeling more confident that we could do it now. Bournemouth’s form is patchy, they’ve taken 12 points from 8 matches since the start of March. In comparison we’ve secured 16 points from 6 league matches over the same period.
We’ve got to beat Bournemouth and then make up a gap of 3 points from our other six remaining games. Looking at the remaining fixtures, I believe they have the slightly harder run in on paper. It’s definitely on!

Bournemouth ------------ ------------------------ Luton a Middlesbrough h WBA h Coventry a Peterborough a Fulham. h Fulham. a Swansea. a Swansea h Blackburn a Current GD. +25. +27 15pts to play for, we only have to be Within 3pts of Bournemouth the night we play them as play off spot should be secure by then . Great week for us and we can now keep an eye on Huddersfield v Luton on Monday and just enjoy where it takes us.
Just hope that if we do end up missing out on automatic which is still likely at this stage, it doesn’t put us on a low going into the playoffs.
Worth a mention for marinakis as well I think. Hasn’t had much praise since he came to the club but January is potentially our best ever transfer window. Would have been very easy for him to sell Johnson for a club record fee.
He resisted the temptation, and then strengthened us further with the additions of cook, Davis, surridge as well as panzo and laryea who are yet to feature. Losing grabban the day before deadline day and instantly going out to replace him with surridge has really strengthened our squad. Real commitment to trying to help cooper and the side through when our season could easily have fallen away. Cooper rightly gets a lot of credit but fair play to marinakis.

I do like the way that pretty quickly after window shut, virtually all questions over the futures of Worrall & Johnson shut down from reporters. Nothing will happen until the season ends. Championship/PL? This has a huge impact of recruitment & players in/out.
Could it be that maybe just maybe, they might not leave, whichever division we're in?

We must beat Bournemouth and if we do that should give us a better GD which would mean the gap is effectively only 3 points. That Fulham game is crucial.

In one way, I'd agree with you Al about the Fulham game, but then in the grand scheme of things over the next 5 games before 3rd May it's just another game. It's all about winning 3pts more than Bournemouth over the next 5 games, however & whoever we get them from. 3pts or less behind Bournemouth going into that game & I know which team will be sh#tting it that night😂 |
